Since Tucson Medical Center opened its doors to its first patient in 1944, the hospital has anticipated and addressed the health needs of Southern Arizona residents. As the region’s market leader in women’s services, TMC provides the most comprehensive team of women’s health specialists and subspecialists in Southern Arizona.
Serving some 30,000 inpatients and 160,000 outpatients annually, TMC is dedicated to providing personalized care with the most advanced technology by the most experienced and skilled physicians and nurses in a patient and family healing environment.
“Making HerStory” is the phrase that summarizes the Joel M. Childers, M.D., Women’s Center campaign. The campaign and women’s center are named in honor of the respected physician and medical educator who passed away in 2002.
“Our goal is to provide excellent care for every woman at every stage of life — from pregnancy to menopause to maturity," said Dr. Gayle A. Dean, Crossroads/Genesis OB/GYN and co-chair of the campaign.
To ensure we continue to provide excellence in women’s services, Tucson Medical Center has made significant investments in technology, programs and facilities. Those investments have included: implementing one of the most advanced medical records systems in the country; building a premiere children’s medical center; adding cutting-edge surgical technology; opening a state-of-the-art four-story surgical tower, and transitioning to private rooms for all our patients.
Tucson Medical Center has listened to the community and has addressed the health care needs, but more needs to be done.
