Children may need surgery for many different reasons - from basic procedures to more complex, life-saving treatment. The surgeons from Tucson Community Pediatric Specialists are focused on the special requirements of children. In addition, they work with pediatricians and pediatric specialists to make sure your child gets the best care available. 

Whether inpatient or outpatient surgery, children and their parents can tour the hospital to gain an understanding of how things will proceed. If your child requires sedation, surgeons work closely with dedicated pediatric anesthesiologists and a child life specialist is available too! Website resources are available to prepare your child for surgery. Please note, if you are a foster parent or grandparent, bring the necessary legal documents (proof of guardianship) a a valid Healthcare Power of Attorney signed by a parent/guardian in order to treat the minor with you to authorize the child's surgery.

Surgery Tours

Our child life specialists can help your child understand surgery and what to expect. Pre-surgery and pre-admission tours are available. Most tours are geared for children ages 3 and up, but all ages and siblings are welcome. You can call (520) 324-1154 to set up a tour time that is best for your family.
