Emcare physicians, along with TMC nurses and staff are committed to providing personalized, quality care with compassion, dignity and respect. Our staff includes physicians who are board-certified in emergency medicine and emergency nurses with certification in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS). Our goal is to provide you and your family with the best emergency care and outstanding customer service.
TMC's Emergency Department includes:
- More than 40 treatment rooms, including 10 critical care rooms
- A triage area staffed 24 hours a day
- Quick access to other key treatment areas in the hospital
- Waiting areas for family and friends
Your medical concerns are important to us. Every patient who checks in at our Emergency Department will be seen in an exam room by a provider.
The first step in receiving this care will be an assessment by a triage nurse.
If you present with a potentially life-threatening problem you will be taken to an examination room immediately. Otherwise, you will be asked to wait until an exam room is available.
Patients arrive in the Emergency Department by helicopter, ambulance and walk-in. All patients are assessed strictly by the severity of their health problem and the associated risks, not by how or when they arrived.
When you get to an exam room, a nurse will be assigned to you, will perform a complete evaluation, and may initiate some procedures or tests before the emergency physician sees you. The physician will see you as soon as possible once you have reached an exam room. Tests, procedures and treatments may take time; but this is necessary to rule out any serious health problems. After the results from all of your tests are back, your emergency physician may consult with your primary care physician to determine the care plan, which could include admission to the hospital or discharge home.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let someone know at the triage window, or if you are in a room let your nurse know. Seven days a week during peak hours there is a patient relations representative on duty who can assist you or address any needs you may have; merely ask that the representative be contacted. We wouldn’t want you to leave the Emergency Department with any unanswered questions or concerns. A social worker and nurse case manager are also available during certain days and times of the week.
TMC International Services offers excellence in service to international and Spanish-speaking patients. It includes concierge services and in-personal Spanish-language interpretation between patients and medical staff, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you require an interpreter, please let someone know at the triage window. TMC has around-the-clock three-way interpretation service for almost all languages.
