Tucson Medical Center's Pastoral Services coordinates the ministry of pastoral care throughout the hospital environment. Pastoral care is a process whereby persons are enabled to become aware of (and utilize) inner spiritual resources for healing and growth.
Pastoral Services believes that all persons seek to interpret their lives and to understand the meaning of their suffering. With the resource of pastoral care, the individual is invited to reflect on his/her belief system as a supportive resource for health and wholeness. Pastoral care is provided on a religious preference basis by members of the pastoral staff, which has representatives from all major faith groups.
Pastoral care uses many traditional religious resources, such as: prayer, counseling, worship and sacrament, to activate the growth of the spiritual dimension of personality.
