Interventional Cardiology

Interventional cardiology uses non-surgical methods to treat heart conditions. They are often catheter-based (small tubes inserted into the arteries and guided to the heart) procedures that open blocked arteries to improve blood flow to the heart. TMC offers a wide range of non-surgical, interventional cardiac care services including heart catheterization and electrophysiology.

Interventional cardiology services include:

  • Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations: the insertion of a small tube into the heart through the arteries in the arm or groin
  • Angioplasty: the insertion of a device to open blocked arteries
  • Intracoronary stent placement: the placement of a small mesh tube in the artery to increase blood flow
  • Innercoronary ultrasound: a diagnostic imaging procedure that takes place within the arteries and heart
