Mary Steele R.N., M.A., M.S.N. has been a long time resident of Tucson, and a long time employee of Tucson Medical Center. She began her nursing career as an emergency department nurse, where she enjoyed the challenges and the incredible learning that brought to each and every day. Mary changed to hospice work in the mid 90’s and has found this to be her passion in healthcare. She became the Director of TMC Hospice in 2000, where she has seen the hospice service grow from the fringes of medicine to the now vital benefit many have come to rely on. She finds that taking care of patients and families at the end-of-life is the most meaningful work, work that teaches the importance of life, family and love.
