In the past decade, advances in technology have changed the field of assistive and adaptive technologies. Assistive technologies can open new worlds for those with physical, communication and cognitive limitations.
Technologies can help someone who is learning to live with a new disability make up for his or her limitations, or help someone with a chronic or progressive disabling condition stay independent in school, work and community settings.
At Tucson Medical Center, dedicated and experienced clinicians in physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy provide assessments and training with different types of assistive technologies. Team members are specially trained in assistive technology and devices and address the unique needs and abilities of patients. Focusing on clients, families, co-workers and caregivers, we provide recommendations, education and support. When appropriate, evaluations or follow-up appointments may take place off-site.
