UpToDate content is written by a faculty of more than 4,800 authors, editors and peer reviewers, all of whom are practicing physicians and experts in their areas. These physicians review a wide range of source materials, including over 460 journals, electronic databases (including Medline, The Cochrane Database, Clinical Evidence and ACP Journal Club), the published results from clinical trials, and proceedings from major national meetings. They then synthesize the data and write original topics, which are put through a rigorous three-tier peer review process to ensure accuracy and objectivity.
UpToDate includes over 77,000 pages of text, graphics and abstracts covering all of general internal medicine and 17 medical subspecialties. It also includes a complete drug database and drug interactions program (in partnership with Lexicomp) as well as over 700 patient education topics.
UpToDate accepts no advertising or sponsorships, a policy that helps ensure its content remains unbiased by commercial interests. UpToDate is an official educational program of, recommended by or produced in cooperation with leading medical societies in the United States.
